I've decided I'll be content with a podium finish personally... Not to say that's what I expect (before the people at the front of the bus start jeering)... But nobody can win them all, and I don't expect Webber to. Long season to go lads (and lassies)... Im feeling the same as you, yeah i would love him to win, but it may be out of reach this time, however even if he got 4th, its still an improvement from what he has managed at albert park before hopefully podium will be achievable

there is reason to see soom doom from yesterday's results, but not the end of marks career perhaps.
in every session (p3, q1, q2, q3) seb had it in bags over mark. perhaps an off day though. seb is a bit faster than mark, we cant argue that fact, but i still dont think, in IDENTICAL machinery there would be more than 1/4 sec between them.
i'm a bit of a conspiricy theorist in alot of areas involving the elite/best/most gained-to lose/ etc, and i would expect that RB will give seb the best of what's available. there are some big ego's in RB management, and big ego's don't always do what's best, or right.
a chassis that slightly less rigid, a diff, torsion bar, steering rack, wing actuator, etc.
hopefully i'm wrong, but unless mark admits he has lost his mojo, it's a theory i'm willing to stick to. if i was the team, i'd know that i couldnt tell mark that seb is getting preference, and you'll need to play second fiddle.

I was just happy to see F1 cars zooming around the track in anger again.
As for evaluating Mark's future performance for the entire season based on his very first quali session, I suppose you lot would have overwhelmingly backed good old Adolf when he kicked Russia's door in then.
I will put age and guile above youth and testosterone any day.

WOW what a qualli thread!!!! only 2 pages of actual qualli talk/track action and then 5 pages of crying to the wind that seb was quicker Go back a few years and remember that we would wonder if mark would ever get a chance in a fast car. he has. he has a super fast teammate.we all know this so lets just suck it up and enjoy the ride where ever it may take us......

AMW mate, you are full of bull$hit.
Mark was "mystified". Does this mean he's finished? Not on your life. Does it mean that Vettel found a better line around AP? Maybe. Does it mean that there was something different in Vettel's car than Mark's? Likely.
You're happily hanging Mark out to dry on the basis of ONE qualifying session. JFC, if we all had your attitude, most of us would have necked ourselves years ago!

Special mentions to Vitaly Petrov (6th) and Paul di Resta (14th) who both outqualified their more highly-rated teammates.

[20+ account stolen by dufus] Well, unfortunately I have to admit that I'm with you guys and gals. I am shocked ... absolutely SHOCKED ... by what happened yesterday. I mean, I had NO idea that SebVet was fast. [/sarcasm] was/is bad gap was/is not a bad qualifying result as much as korea hurt mark last year, you can equally argue that his slow start to collecting points hurt him. in fact, Jim, Loud and I all made observations to that effect, at the time. (from the back of the bus) a podium here would be a good start to the year. yes, I'd freaking love him to win. but a successful wdc campaign (which is surely what we'd like to see most) is enhanced by a good start, and 3rd on the grid certainly enables/allows that. so by the time room 105 finally headed to bed around 7:00am this morning, we all agreed that as a *result* it was not too bad. (of course, the fact that we only got to bed at 0700 might have frazzled our thought processes somewhat)[/account hijack]

A better line? Are you for real? Hanging him out, he just got blown away, smoked by everyone in the fastest car on the grid. This will be his last year in F1.
