Not that anyone is about much but I thought I might as well post the thread to keep up with the tradition. P1 of course is on right now.

I'm not sure whether to croak with glee about Vettel in the wall, or croaky curse because now he'll steal Mark's setup.

Autosport says only small contact with the wall, so who knows how bad it is. It only needs to be a small-ish tap and you're done for 24 hours, as Webber found in 09. And it is somewhat annoying that while this is the third time Vettel has put it into the wall this year, each occasion has been on Friday. Knowing when to push and when to leave a tenth or two in reserve? Luck? Combination of both? Don't know. Don't care. It's simply annoying!

I was watching practice when Seb went into the wall. Was a fairly light, head on hit, barely broke his front wing, car was basically fine. Interesting that Mark was doing very heavy fuel running at the very end, when everyone else was still running lighter, perhaps he feels happy with the basic setup already. He looked pretty comfortable from what I saw.

Mark does 1 flying lap on options, Seb did about 4 until he was faster than Mark.

Mark does 1 flying lap on options, Seb did about 4 until he was faster than Mark. There was a yellow came out for Maldonado just as Seb was in the middle of his first flyer, so he aborted, then circulated until the yellow was gone, hence why he took 4 laps, still, track would have been slightly better, he would have had less fuel than when Mark did his lap. Mark looking right on it this weekend for outright pace compared to Seb, aswell as long run pace, was equalling Seb at the end on the long runs, even bettering him sometimes.

However, Mark has been right with Seb right from the very first laps here, which usually means he is going to have a good weekend. It's been rare for Mark to start behind Seb at the start of a weekend, then overhaul him, although he has got closer a few times when that has happened. Also, the Red Bulls were comfortably quicker on the long runs than the maccas and ferraris. Mark alone was on average, 7 tenths quicker than them in S1 alone, and 3 tenths quicker through there than even Seb. Barring any weirdness, I would expect a podium from Mark at least here.

We look pretty resonable on those long runs, I think we had plenty more fuel than Macca on the quali sim as well.

Didn't think it was worth a new thread, but saw this over at F1fanatic and had a good laugh source: www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/oct/06/lewis-hamilton-f1"Up until the end of 2008 I'd won a championship every second year of my career since I was eight years old. I've done pretty well up until now, but I've had a couple of tough years, with this year the most trying, testing year of my career so far." Kinda sums it up... That guy has NO idea what a tough year in F1 is. No wonder he treats the car like he's at the dodgems, and is getting beaten by Button who actually knows what a tough year is... Comes off as such a spoilt brat I swear.

Button knows what a tough year is, but he sucks at them. They're not kidding when they say he needs the car in the sweet spot.

One of the many reasons I take a dislike to Hamilton (and Vettel) - they've had everything handed to them on a silver platter. Neither knows what it means to really fight.

Is it cause he is black? Aaiiigh!
Maybe that's why they're so d**n good, Seb and Lewis? they can handle the pressure of expectation. and deliver top results. if you don't think that is just as tough, mentally as well as 'raw talent', then you should go talk to Brendon Hartley or Fillipi. sheesh there is no such thing as an easy ride to get into F1.
